Morocco Local Moon Sighting Hijri Calendar

Moroccan Ministry of Awqaf (وزارة الأوقاف والشؤون الإسلامية)

The Hijri calendar for Morocco is issued by the official moon sighting authority, following the Rukyat methodology.

Criteria: The beginning of each Hijri month is determined by confirmed naked-eye or optical moon sighting after sunset.

This methodology requires an actual observation of the crescent moon (rukyat hilal) and does not rely solely on astronomical calculations.
